Learn C# by understanding MiniEHR
You do not need to know C# to start. This tutorial explains terms before using them, then connects them to real files. Basic terminal and web-request knowledge helps, but you can begin by reading the lessons.
The goal is to understand the whole project: how an invented patient becomes a database record, how the browser changes it, how closure works, and how Foundry governs engineering work.
Learning path
| Lesson | What you will learn |
|---|---|
| 1. Setup | Tools, repository structure, supervised local preview |
| 2. C# basics | Types, methods, records, interfaces, asynchronous code |
| 3. Request flow | Patient registration from HTTP to SQLite and back |
| 4. Data and closure | Relationships, migrations, versions, permanent closure |
| 5. API walkthrough | A complete synthetic workflow and endpoint reference |
| 6. Frontend | Browser behavior, save flow, Netlify/backend hosting |
| 7. Tests and exercises | Read tests and practice changes |
| 8. Foundry | Assignments, sessions, runtimes, evidence, remaining gates |
| 9. Troubleshooting and glossary | Diagnose issues and look up terms |
Read lessons 1–4 before trying the API walkthrough. Code excerpts already exist in the repository; explanatory snippets need not be pasted into source. Terminal commands run from the repository root unless stated otherwise. Lessons end with checkpoints and links to the next lesson.
What you are studying
An EHR is an electronic health record. MiniEHR implements only registration, encounters, vitals, notes, and permanent closure. An encounter records an interaction with a patient; it is not an appointment or billing event.
The application must enforce its rules, and Foundry must govern and record engineering. Passing application tests and accepted engineering evidence are separate outcomes.
Version and limits
This guide describes application candidate 0d4d28b and the observed environment on October 10, 2026: .NET SDK 10.0.401 and pinned Foundry preview a03d4a3. Source links follow the branch you are reading. Temporary Foundry paths are machine-specific, not a public installation method.
The live Netlify page has four browsable synthetic demo patients and this learning guide. Demo records are frontend fixtures; data-entry controls remain disabled. This read-only hosted demo and tutorial, alongside a local functional backend, are the intended scope. Paid backend hosting is deferred by the owner. Local ASP.NET serves the functional frontend and API together after an authorized launch. The interactive browser walkthrough has not yet been verified.
Foundry executed 59 C# cases at the application candidate: 58 passed and one readiness case was intentionally skipped. It rejected full evidence because of multi-project discovery. Browser acceptance, independent reviews, and main integration remain pending. Use invented data exclusively; authentication and production clinical deployment are outside scope.
